Kau Sai Chau Projects Initiatives

The Golf Course is committed to sustainable development across all areas of the operation and in 2009 and 2010 launched two pioneering renewable energy projects.

Egretry Planting - In April 2000 some 30 secondary school students participated in a conservation seminar on the ecology of herons and egrets including participating in a tree planting project to establish an Egretry at the Golf Course.

Staff Education
Staff Education

Staff undergo in-house training to understand more about the environment & ecology of the island. The knowledge of our staff in this field contributes and enhances the sustainable management of the facilities.

Mangrove Restoration

During the initial construction of the golf courses in the mid 1990's over 10,000 mangrove droppers and seedlings were planted at 5 sites surrounding KSC. Mangrove monitoring at these sites since 1995 has shown good survival and growth of these mangrove habitats.

Water Quality Management & Conservation

Water Quality Management & Conservation

  • The Golf Course aims to minimize water consumption and maintain high standards of water quality on fresh and marine water in and around KSC.
  • The water flow design at KSC is based on a concept of self containment and effluent re-cycling.
  • The Golf Course ensures clean water supply and protects the quality of water bodies such as streams, wetlands, lakes, ponds and the sea. A water quality monitoring program has been in place continuously since golf operations commenced.
  • Good water quality has been maintained over the years due to the golf course effectively managing water quality.

Single Use Plastic

As part of our commitment to environmental protection and waste reduction, the Golf Course has been phasing out single use plastics and replacing these with more sustainable alternatives.

The Golf Course will continue to find ways to make our operations more sustainable and help reduce waste in Hong Kong's landfills.
