The North Course with a real links feel to it is an excellent test for golfers of all levels. Designed by Gary Player and measuring 6,719 yards from the back tees, the course is not long by modern standards, but presents a stern test of golf with accuracy off the tee vital. A walking course which appeals to the purists and those looking for a little more exercise.
A great way to start the round! This opening par 5 requires a well-placed drive to set up the second shot. If the pin is on the right, lay up for an easy pitch in. If the pin is on the left or middle, try to reach the green in two to open with par or better.

A short and tricky par 4. Play it safe with a tee shot of 200 yards placed between the fairway bunkers which will leave you a short iron to the green. Club selection and accuracy is the key for a nice birdie opportunity.

The green is much wider than appears and is protected by 2 bunkers to the front right. Be sure to check the wind and take an extra club. Trust the yardage and keeping the ball in the middle or slightly left is the smart play.

A well placed tee shot of at least 250 yards off the tee makes for a challenging approach. Long hitters may risk cutting the corner for an easier shot in. The green is protected by deep bunkers on all sides. A difficult hole for any player.

A tough uphill tee shot where accuracy is again required, although the fairway is slightly wider once you drive over 200 yards. The uphill approach requires careful club selection and be sure to stay away from the left where trouble lurks.

A straight-forward short hole giving you a great opportunity to put a 3 on the scorecard. Club selection is key so check the wind twice before you play. Aim for the middle of the green which is guarded by bunkers.

Aim right of the fairway bunker to find the middle of the fairway. The second shot is crucial on this hole and ideally placed 80 to 140 yards from the green avoiding the fairway bunker. The green is protected by a bunker to the left and slopes to the right and back. A good par!

This is stroke index #1 for good reason. It’s long, uphill and on most days in to the wind! Long hitters may go for it in two but for many, a lay up to a favorite distance will give a good opportunity for an up and down. Par feels like birdie here!

A drive to the left side of this narrow fairway should give you an extra 20 to 30 yards roll on this long par 4. The wide but shallow green is protected by water hazards. Clear your mind and take a deep breath before you decide to go for it in two.

A classic par 3 to an elevated green well-guarded by bunkers. Take an extra club to be sure to carry the deep front bunkers on this hole but beware of the grass bunkers behind the green to avoid a tricky chip.

From the tee aim just left of the middle fairway bunker. On the second shot there are bushes cutting down the right and water to on the left. A solid second shot will leave you 80 – 100 yards from the green and should set up par or better.

Anywhere right off the tee is dead. The best approach is to aim at the grave located in the middle of the fairway. For big hitters aim just left of the green off the tee to set up an easier approach. Beware the front pot bunker!

The signature Par 3 hole of the North Course. A classic island green protected by the South China Sea to the front back and left. Pay careful attention to wind direction! Two good puts on the heavily sloped green will leave you with a memorable par.

Aim a little right to take the wetland out of play, whilst avoiding the two fairway bunkers. The green is surrounded by 5 bunkers. Be sure to avoid them for a straightforward par.

For long hitters check the wind before you drive which is 260 yards all carry to the green from the White tees. The percentage shot is to play it safe with a tee shot to the generous landing area. This leaves a challenging approach to an elevated green.

Stay away from the right-hand bunkers with the tee shot. Check the pin before playing your second. If it’s left play right to give you a better angle in. The green is shallow with a bunker at the back.
